Covid-19 Crisis – CCCV becomes Anchor Institution in the Colne Valley

The Covid-19 crisis broke it was clear that the sorts of measures needed to tackle the virus would pose serious challenges to millions of people. These include not being able to get food/prescriptions for self-isolating vulnerable people and loss of income due to the economic effects of the lockdown. All over the UK local community based ‘Mutual Aid Groups’ of volunteers were set up to help those in need.

They have and continue to do great work. It’s exactly the kind of organised ‘good neighbourliness’ we are seeking to develop.

So Co-operative Care Colne Valley is therefore proud to have been chosen as the lead Anchor Institution for the Colne Valley. Our remit is to:

  • Take referrals from people in need
  • Co-ordinate the volunteer response across the Valley
  • Assist local Mutual Aid Groups to help neighbours
  • Working with the community, develop capacity to provide sustainable support for people in need in the future

If you are an individual who feels they could do with some support or a local group seeking help please contact Glyn Barker, CCCV Anchor Co-ordinator, email: info@valleycare.coop ; phone 01484 970837
