Researching local community needs

Our vision as a community social care co-operative is to blend a quality home care service with a vibrant volunteer-based community programme which will allow people using our service to live life better.

We have now received a tremendous endorsement from people in the Colne Valley with our Community Share Offer raising the £150,000 start up capital needed to launch the business in the coming weeks.

We now want to establish the type of community activities people require, in addition to homecare. These would be social activities which could ease isolation and loneliness, and improve physical and mental wellbeing. These types of activities might include opportunities to meet with other people, being involved in arts, or gardening, for example.

We’re also keen to find out if local people would like to get involved in volunteering to help deliver some of these much needed community activities.

We’ve produced a short survey to capture local needs and interest in volunteering. You can respond to the survey here, or if you would prefer to complete it over the phone with Mithu (our Community Operations Manager), please ring her on 07547 409422 or email mithu@valleycare.coop to arrange a convenient time. You can also download a version of the survey as a Word file or a PDF if you prefer, complete it and email it back to Mithu or post it to us at CCCV, Slaithwaite Civic, 15A New Street, Slaithwaite HD7 5AB.

We’re organising an informal meeting/focus group at the end of September to discuss the key findings from the survey and how we shape our service offer in response.
